Creative Vitality in Oregon 2006
2007, 17 pages. Oregon Arts Commission, 775 Summer Street NE, Suite 200, Salem, Oregon 97301, (503) 986-0082
The Creative Vitality Index (CVI), published by the Oregon Arts Commission, is drawn from existing census data and measures public participation in the arts as well as arts-related employment. It includes data from both the profit and nonprofit sectors in order to map the impact of creative pursuits in local economies. It also includes case studies of several Oregon businesses that demonstrate the intersection of private and public creative enterprises. The CVI aims to provide a more complete picture of how creative work affects the broader community by incorporating data not normally included in arts analysis. In addition to ticket sales and museum entry fees the CVI also looks at book and music sales, photographic and art supply shops, and the purchase of musical instruments.
