• Overall foundation giving decreased by an estimated 8.4 percent in 2009 to $42.9 billion
• Foundation assets rose by an estimated 3.3 percent in 2009, up significantly from last year’s record decline
• Estimated 2010 foundation giving is expected to remain flat
