SEATTLE NATIVE NONPROFITS COLLABORATE TO ENSURE SURVIVAL
Earlier this year several Seattle Native nonprofit groups came together to both learn more about the work that they each do and to find ways in which they can support each other in these difficult times. The meeting arose out of a brief gathering that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation hosted to discuss the impacts of their funding changes on Native applicants.
At this meeting staff from United Indians of All Tribes reported that a Community Needs Survey showed that the Seattle Native community wanted nonprofit groups to work together and they also desired a Native newspaper so that they could keep up with what is happening in Indian Country.
