BUSH FOUNDATION AWARDS $1 MILLION TO INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS

The Bush Foundation on Monday announced $1 million in awards to individual artists in the region, including three $100,000 recipients of its Enduring Vision Award, designed to propel the artistic investigations of mature artists.

The St. Paul-based foundation concentrated its artist awards this year on performing and literary arts, choosing to recognize the work of Minnesota director, designer and puppet creator Michael Sommers; American Indian hoop dancer, storyteller and cultural ambassador Kevin Locke of South Dakota; and Mary Louise Defender Wilson, a Dakota storyteller from North Dakota.
