GIA PRESIDENT TESTIFIES TO THE MINNESOTA HOUSE
April 6, 2009 – Arts program director Vickie Benson provides professional analysis on the need for a strategic statewide distribution plan for arts funding.
In November 2008, Minnesota voters passed the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment to our state constitution. Until 2034, about 20% of dollars raised because of the amendment will supplement state funding to preserve Minnesota’s arts and cultural heritage. In March 2009, McKnight’s arts program director Vickie Benson was asked to testify before the Legislative committee charged with establishing a comprehensive plan to distribute these funds; her full testimony appears below.
