Working Paper #1
Finding Common Ground in International Artistic Collaboration
Working paper writer, Mindy Levine; convening curator, Heather Hitchens
August 2000, 24 pages, Arts International.
Since 1995, seven grantees, supported by the Ford Foundation, have been working in their home communities to support international artistic collaboration with Latin America, Africa, and Asia. A detailed account of the initiative's phase I, 1995-98 can be found in International Collaboration in the Arts by Douglas DeNatale and Karen L. Ito, also available from Arts International. Working Paper #1 presents case studies of three of those grantee organizations as well as the summaries of three days of panel discussions from various perspectives — artist (international and U.S.), presenter/producer, ethnographer, and audience.
