This SRI International study, commissioned by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation examines the state of arts education in the California public school system. The report shows that even though California's legislature adopted high standards and requirements for arts education, most schools are not meeting those standards. The report also shows that the implementation of the standards is erratic from school to school and from district to district. Several factors create difficulties for schools to meet the standards
