Cracking the Readiness Code
What It Means for ALAANA Organizations
Sunday, October 29, 10:00am – 11:30am
Organized and moderated by Sharnita Johnson, Program Director, The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation.
Presented by Susan Feder, Program Officer, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation; Rhonda Greene, Executive Director, Heritage Works; and Denise Saunders Thompson, President & CEO, The International Association of Blacks in Dance, Inc.
The life cycle and readiness indicators for organizations of color look very different from their white and multiracial counterparts. The one-standard-for-all grantmaking approach is widespread, negatively impacts the growth of organizations of color, and contributes to cyclical disparity. This session will present a dialogue between grantmakers and their grantees examining the processes and models that counter traditional models of readiness assessment and grantmaking.
