Cultural Policy: Developing and Reporting on Cultural Indicators

The World Cities Culture Report 2012 was launched in London by the World Cities Cultural Forum. The report includes sixty cultural vitality indicators gathered from existing data sources. Los Angeles County is participating in the 2013 version of this report along with a handful of other U.S. cities, and for the first time cities across the country will focus on common cultural indicators and compare themselves to similar cities in other countries. Significantly, this provides a chance to investigate successful arts and culture funding and policy models across the world and to examine how funding is changing. This session will provide a forum to discuss the value of including arts and cultural indicators in broader policy conversations and reporting.
