Robin Rue Simmons, Founder and Executive Director of FirstRepair, a not-for-profit organization that informs local reparations, nationally. Ms. Rue Simmons is the former 5th Ward Alderwoman for the City of Evanston, IL, where she led, in collaboration with others, the passage of the nation’s first municipally-funded reparations legislation for Black residents. She currently chairs the city of Evanston’s Reparations Committee, has received numerous awards for her reparations and other public service work.  Rue Simmons is a 2023 University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics’, Pritzker Fellows. 

Though only a few years young, FirstRepair has served as an amazing resource for folks working to win reparations for their communities.
