The Dramatists Guild Foundation (DGF) works in service to writers for the stage, understanding that it is vital to support writers at all stages of their careers so that they can focus on what they do best – creating new stories for the stage. DGF gives this support through ever-evolving grants and resource programs to meet writers’ needs amongst the ebbs and flows of the theatre industry.

Journey to Memphis: GIA Board Meeting Reflections
The GIA board and select staff members took to Memphis, Tennessee for the board meeting and other activities from March 8-10, 2023. They visited several notable sites including the Memphis Slim Conservatory, Stax Museum, and the National Civil Rights Museum. The board also met with members of the Memphis Music Initiative, Collage Dance Collective, and more!

Call for Sessions: 2023 GIA Conference
Grantmakers in the Arts is currently seeking session proposals for the 2023 GIA Conference, to be held November 5-8 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The GIA Conference is the largest annual convening of arts funders and the most comprehensive opportunity for our colleagues in the field to learn from each other. We greatly value the experience, ideas, and programs that members share with each other and the field at large. GIA members are invited to propose conference sessions on our website.

ASC Statement: Charlotte City Council Vote
From ASC: Last night, Feb. 27, 2023, Charlotte City Council approved a policy framework for its Arts and Culture Advisory Board. The framework makes ASC ineligible to receive operating dollars to support the personnel, technology and other resources necessary to do its work for the broader cultural sector.
ASC is Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s Local Arts Agency. Its role is to support the broader cultural sector and provide funding and services to strengthen the sector culturally, socially, educationally and economically. ASC will continue to show up each day to invest in the people, programs and ideas that make Charlotte-Mecklenburg a more equitable, sustainable and creative ecosystem.
