Register for the 2017 GIA Conference
Registration is now open for the 2017 GIA Conference, to be held Saturday, October 28 through Tuesday, October 31 in Detroit, MI. The GIA Conference provides the only national opportunity for arts grantmakers from across the country to come together to share knowledge and ideas, develop collective strategies, and learn about the latest initiatives in arts grantmaking. This year’s conference will feature over 40 sessions, as well as inspiring keynote presentations and performances. GIA members are eligible for discounted conference registration.
Letter to Congress in Support of America’s Cultural Vitality
On Monday, June 26, GIA’s board of directors sent a letter to all members of Congress on behalf of GIA’s membership in support of continued funding of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Webinars in July: Arts in Well-being
For the month of July, Grantmakers in the Arts will host two webinars highlighting the role of arts in health and well-being. Arts in Medicine: Supporting Artists Working in Healthcare Settings will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2:00pm EDT / 11:00am PDT. Join Patricia Lambert from University of Oregon’s arts management program and Jill Sonke, director of University of Florida’s Center for the Arts in Medicine, who will share their experiences working with artists and healthcare professionals to support successful arts-in-medicine programs. Patricia and Jill participated as thought leaders at the Arts in Medicine Funders Forum earlier this year in Orlando, FL, a conversation sparked by GIA’s recent literature review. Janet Brown, GIA’s president and CEO, will moderate this discussion.
