December Web Conference: Arts, Environment, and Place
The next GIA web conference, Arts, Environment, and Place, will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at 2pm EST / 11am PST. This session will discuss how funders can think about arts strategies to support place-based work that addresses environmental sustainability. Alexis Frasz will present Helicon Collaborative’s research on how culture is supporting environmental efforts in communities across the country and F. Javier Torres will discuss how ArtPlace America is connecting art with environment in its creative placemaking work.

New from the GIA Reader: Alexis Frasz on the Intersection of Arts and Environment
The latest issue of the GIA Reader features two articles by Alexis Frasz, codirector of Helicon Collaborative, about the movement for arts and environment. The first article recaps GIA’s Arts and Environmental Sustainability Thought Leader Forum, which brought together arts and environmental funders to discuss cross-sector work. The second is an interview with one of the environmental thought leaders from that day, Anthony Leiserowitz, PhD, about how art can change how we think about climate change.
